Erin Keith, Esq. is the Transforming Criminal Justice Program Officer at The Navigation Fund. Previously, as Managing Policy Counsel for the Detroit Justice Center (DJC), Erin developed the organization’s advocacy strategy, authored and analyzed legislation, served on statewide policy coalitions, liaised with government officials, and provided movement lawyering support to organizing campaigns. As a staff attorney in DJC's Legal Services and Advocacy Practice, Erin helped indigent and formerly incarcerated clients clear outstanding warrants to avoid pretrial detention, reduce fines and fees, regain custodial rights and clear child support debt, and create legal reentry plans while preparing for parole. Erin has worked on critical issues including cash bail reform, restorative justice accessibility, ending the traffic-court-debt-to-incarceration pipeline, divesting from carceral structures to fund community reinvestment, “Know Your Rights” youth justice advocacy, and police accountability. She has been featured on CNN, NPR, WDET, USA Today, the Georgetown Journal of Law and Modern Critical Race Perspectives, and the Harvard Journal of African American Public Policy. A summa cum laude graduate of Howard University with a B.A. in Political Science, and a J.D. and LL.M. graduate of Georgetown Law, Erin is a member of both the State Bar of Michigan and the District of Columbia Bar.
